AB Glass becomes certified smoke ventilation manufacturer

Aluminium manufacturing and installation company AB Glass has achieved smoke ventilation certification, making it one of only a few firms in Wales that can manufacture En12101-2 certified smoke vents.

AB Access Control, the company’s latest division, has been accredited with the certification by SE Controls, an international specialist in intelligent smoke and environmental ventilation systems using façade automation.

The smoke ventilation certification will enable the company to design and manufacture smoke ventilation products from its Swansea-based factory. AB Glass’ clients will receive a signed Declaration of Performance proving certification to the standard.

With the market insisting on compliance, having another smoke ventilation manufacturer in Wales that can offer products to the current legislative requirements is imperative.

Justin John, AB Access Control director, said:

“Achieving smoke ventilation certification increases the scope of the work that we can do for our clients. With an in-house design team and the ability to manufacture smoke ventilation systems at our own factory, the development of the products for all manner of buildings, whether new builds or retrofits, is seamless. This makes us very attractive to architects, contractors and many others within the building industry as we can be their one-stop-shop for their windows, doors, access control and smoke ventilation needs.”

Alan Brayley, managing director at AB Glass, added:

“We are very proud to be one of very few companies in Wales that can offer smoke ventilation systems through gaining smoke ventilation certification. As a business, we are continuously looking at how we can expand to meet the needs of our clients. Our new access control division and its development to become a SE Controls fabricator partner is testament of this. We are confident that our professionalism and strong reputation with contractors will boost our latest offering of certified smoke ventilation systems.”
