18 Year Old Cardiff Entrepreneur launches successful business while studying for ‘A’ Levels
An 18 year old entrepreneur from Cardiff successfully set up his own vehicle valeting business while studying for A-Levels at Llanishen High School – and even now has his own employees.
The initial inspiration for setting up his business stemmed from watching tutorials on YouTube during the period of lockdown in 2020 – he learned the skills and began to offer low-priced car valets to close friends and family.
Since then, Hytech Detailers has grown exponentially, and Charlie has multiple employees offering fully-mobile cleaning and valeting services across Cardiff and Swansea. Charlie has now completed his studies, and now prioritises his time to manage his business.
Like many young people, Charlie was sceptical about the potential career pathways he wanted to pursue during his time at sixth form, as university or an apprenticeship didn’t initially appeal to him and decided to create a business from something that he genuinely enjoys doing.
Through taking the plunge to set up his own business, Charlie explains that he learnt a lot about the fundamental aspects of business in real-world practice, including finance, taxes and insurance.
Charlie’s advice to any young person who currently ‘on the fence’ regarding pursuing their business idea is to just “go for it”, as “you’re never going to succeed unless you actually try.”
Charlie has signed up to Cardiff Commitmentas he is keen to inspire other young people with his story.
