Welsh Salon’s help for Autistic Children recognised at National Hair & Beauty Community Awards
Ystrad Mynach is celebrating the achievements of local salon, Spirit Hair Team, who have been awarded special recognition for their contribution to the community as part of the Hair & Beauty Community Awards 2020 run by the National Hair & Beauty Federation (NHBF).
The NHBF’s Community Awards were set up in 2019 to recognise that as well as providing hair and beauty services to clients, many are also community hubs, playing an instrumental role in improving their local communities, fundraising for good causes and promoting health and wellbeing in the community they serve. With business feeling the strain due to Coronavirus, there has never been a more important time to highlight some of Ystrad Mynach’s fantastic businesses and the important role they play in the community.
Spirit Hair Team was given a special recognition award for their amazing efforts to set up a special tailored service for children and their families living with Autistic Spectrum Disorder called ‘ASD Sundays’. The team give their time for free and provide the children with a safe space to have their hair cut on their terms. One hundred percent of the monies raised go to a charity of the team’s choice, last year being ASD Rainbows who received £2,000.
Congratulating them on the award, Local MP, Wayne David said “Thanks must be given to Spirit Hair Team for the hugely positive impact they have had on the children and families who attend ‘ASD Sundays’ as well as helping to raise awareness of autism and get people talking and asking questions.
“At times such as now it is even more important to highlight salons like our local Spirit Hair Team who consistently go above and beyond for Ystrad Mynach. They have really proven themselves to be an integral part of our community and I send my heartfelt gratitude for their amazing work and congratulations on this award.”
