Bridgend Businesses can show they’re ‘good to go’
Businesses across Bridgend County Borough are being urged to show that they’re ‘good to go’ for when coronavirus restrictions ease and they can welcome back customers.
The We’re Good to Go scheme, created by Visit Wales in partnership with other national tourist organisations, allows businesses to achieve the UK-wide industry standard and demonstrate that they are following Covid-19 guidance and have processes in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.
Almost 90 businesses in the county borough have been accredited so far, including accommodation, tourist attractions and places to eat. Tourism and hospitality operators who get in touch with the local authority to let us know they have achieved the standard will be highlighted on the Bridgend county destination website Visit Bridgend.
Cllr Charles Smith, Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration, said: “If coronavirus cases continue to fall, Welsh Government plans to allow the tourism and hospitality industries to begin to reopen over the coming months. The We’re Good To Go scheme gives businesses a chance to provide visitors with some peace of mind.
“Those who achieve the standard can also now be automatically issued with the international ‘Safe Travels’ stamp from the World Travel & Tourism Council, which has recognised it as meeting its international global standardised health and hygiene protocols and for its role in supporting the recovery of the UK tourism sector.
“When restrictions allow, we are looking forward to welcoming back visitors and encouraging residents to enjoy the county borough’s attractions and amenities safely. The council continues to offer support to businesses during the Covid-19 pandemic, including making 6,500 payments to local firms totalling more than £42.4m.”
Businesses can apply to the scheme at Visit Britain’s We’re Good to Go webpage and can email tourism@bridgend.gov.uk to let the council know when they have received confirmation they have achieved the standard.
