PayByPhone to provide cashless parking in Transport for Wales station car parks

PayByPhone, the global leader in mobile parking payments, today announced that from 22 March 2021 it replaced Dash as the cashless parking provider for the Welsh Government-owned Transport for Wales (TfW) in 23 train station car parks.

PayByPhone users can use the service without any parking transaction fees and can opt to receive text messages that remind them before a parking session expires.  Dash season ticket holders will be able to renew their season tickets with PayByPhone.

Gareth Ponting, Facilities Manager, Transport for Wales, says: “As lockdown gradually eases, people will be getting out more while wanting to stay safe, which is why we’re committed to improving parking across the Transport for Wales network. Continuing to offer touch-free payment for parking at station car parks through PayByPhone in addition to the enhanced cleaning we are carrying out, and the social distancing measures at stations and on our trains, helps to keep people safe when they travel with us.”

Adam Dolphin, Sales Director of PayByPhone, says: “This agreement with Transport for Wales continues our increasing presence in Wales. But more than that, we’re proud to be part of the wider solution to make parking hassle-free, and to ensure people stay safe because they don’t have to handle cash or touch parking machines.”

PayByPhone is currently available across six Welsh counties – Conwy, Denbighshire, Gwynedd, Isle of Anglesey, Vale of Glamorgan and Pembrokeshire, and it is also partnered with Pembrokeshire National Parks providing cashless parking in all its car parks.

Drivers are encouraged to download the PayByPhone app now, so they can use the new service straight away. Registration is very simple and takes less than 30 seconds. When paying for parking with mobile phones, PayByPhone recommends cleaning mobile devices regularly. Phones can pick up germs from surfaces on which they are placed, potentially then transferring those germs to hands or faces, so cleaning the device regularly is essential.
