Swansea BID Urges Consumers to Give Independent Retailers a Cwtch For Independent Retailers Month
Social distancing might still be in place but Swansea BID (Business Improvement District)is giving the city centre’s independent retailers a cwtch for Independents Month – which runs for the whole of July.
Small is beautiful is the message to visitors to Swansea City Centre, who are encouraged to shop locally throughout Independent’s Month, with a Big Heart of Swansea digital campaign planned. Big Heart of Swansea is the consumer-facing brand of Swansea BID, known for its offers card and app.
Andrew Douglas, Business Liaison Manager at Swansea BID, said: “We are happy to shine the spotlight on our fantastic independent retailers by once again promoting Independents Month. The range of small and independent businesses is one of the unique selling points of Swansea city centre and we are pleased to see more and more of them opening – everything from boutiques and beauty salons, to gift shops, delis, cafes and restaurants. Our Big Heart of Swansea brand will be driving this campaign to remind shoppers and visitors about the wide variety of goods and services on offers from smaller, independent businesses which are, in many ways, the lifeblood of a unique, characterful and vibrant City Centre.
“It is important that we do what we can to support these businesses – which are often family-run firms, or businesses established by local entrepreneurs, to thrive, and we would encourage our independents and consumers to like and share the #IndependentsMonth content you see on our Big Heart of Swansea and Swansea BID social media channels. The Big Heart of Swansea team will be posting its popular True Heart stories on Instagram too, featuring independents. Let’s spread the message far and wide at this critical time. We have produced some eye-catching window stickers to remind shoppers that every pound they spend with a small business sees 63p stays in the local economy. We hope consumers and visitors to Swansea city centre spot these and step inside.”
