Swansea is the UK’s Second Cheapest City for a Haircut
New research has revealed that Swansea is the second cheapest place to get a haircut in the UK, with Cardiff also named in the top three.
The study, carried out by supplement brand Yumi, analysed the cheapest women’s cuts available at well-reviewed hair salons across the UK.
Women in Swansea can get their haircut for a snip with the average cost of the cheapest haircut in the city just £16.
And you can also get a cut-price trim in Cardiff, where the average cheapest women’s cut will cost you a very respectable £16.33.
Only Wolverhampton salons offer cheaper trims than the two Welsh cities, but a haircut in Bristol will cost you three and a half times more, with the average cheapest cut setting you back £57.33.
To help make sure you get your money’s worth, Amy Morris, Functional Nutritionist at Yumi, recommends the following vitamins to give your hair the nutrients it needs to stay healthy post-cut:
Vitamin A
This vitamin is needed to help moisturise the scalp and keep hair healthy as it helps the skin glands produce sebum, which is a naturally oily substance.
Biotin
Without biotin (aka vitamin B7), an important hair protein called keratin can’t be made. So for people who do not consume enough vitamin B7, hair quality will be negatively impacted.
Zinc
A deficiency in the mineral zinc has been found to cause hair loss. Not only does zinc help support hair growth, but it is also important for repairing hair too.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, meaning it can help deal with damage to hair posed by free radicals. The body also needs vitamin C to produce a protein called collagen which is important for keeping hair strong and reducing breakages.
Vitamin E
Another important antioxidant, vitamin E helps to deal with free radicals by neutralising them. Vitamin E has also been found to protect the skin, including the scalp area, from damage caused by oxidative stress. When the scalp gets damaged this can, in turn, cause fewer hair follicles and lower overall hair quality.
