Garden Village Setting Is Perfect Place To Watch Your Family Grow
MOVING house just weeks before the birth of a baby could seem like a recipe for disaster – but new mum Courtney Yeap says it couldn’t have been more straightforward.
The 24-year-old paralegal and partner Callum got the keys of their new home in Parc Ceirw Garden Village, Morriston, just two weeks before the arrival of their first child, Travis.
“Moving into a newbuild made it all so much easier,” Courtney says. “Everything was clean and tidy, there was nothing to be done and everything was there that we needed – like a fully-fitted, modern kitchen.”
Courtney moved into the four-bedroom, detached Carcroft property from Bluebell Homes with partner Callum Bowden, a 25-year-old senior recruitment consultant who also plays rugby for Swansea RFC.
Courtney explains: “We were going to move into an older house before I found out I was pregnant, but it has worked out for the best.”
“We moved straight in and we had no concerns about work to be done or the boiler breaking down. We just feel so lucky to be in this house!”
Although they had previously lived a short drive away, the childhood sweethearts – who were due to get married in November 2020 but postponed for a year due to Covid – had always envisaged moving back.
“We always planned to move back to Morriston, I work in Llansamlet and Callum works in Swansea. But during the pandemic when you couldn’t see family, although we were only 25 minutes away it seemed a lot further and we wanted to be closer.
“When I found out I was pregnant, the location of our next house seemed even more important – especially with such a good school opposite Parc Ceirw.
“The amount of gardens and green space, especially with two dogs and a young baby, made the garden village even more appealing. We love the fact there is a lot of greenery here and we can make use of it without having to maintain it.
“Morriston is a nice area and Parc Ceirw feels so healthy and safe and a great place to bring up a family,” Courtney adds.
The couple chose the Carcroft style home because of its attractive design and value for money, and there’s little they don’t love about it: “We like the modern design with the big windows, and the good size of all four bedrooms,” says Courtney.
“I love the hallway which will be great for leaving a pram in, and all the little extras – like the shower over the bath in the bathroom and the dual shower heads in the en-suite.
“The kitchen units go up to the ceiling which means you get so much more storage space and there’s lots of things that are over and above the average developer and things that we didn’t know we’d have – like outside lights, a car charger and TV points already in the middle of the wall. It felt like home from the minute we moved in.”
The couple love their new home so much they even set up an Instagram account about their homebuying journey, bowdens_at_no1. “We have nothing but praise for Bluebell. Moving home could have been stressful, especially only being in a week before having a baby, but Bluebell go that extra mile.”
As they adjust to family life with their new son, Courtney and Callum say family life couldn’t be better: “We really like it here, we love the house and it’s big enough for a growing family,” smiles Courtney. “We won’t ever want to leave – although I do like the look of the houses in the final phase!”
Over the course of five years Parc Ceirw will see 300 homes built by the Edenstone Group’s two housing brands, Edenstone Homes and Bluebell Homes.
