Made Tech, a provider of digital, data and technology services to the UK public sector, has been awarded a two-year contract by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) for the provision of design, development, and application support services.

The project is part of the DVLA’s critical IT Transformation programme, which seeks to re-engineer all of its IT systems onto new, open-source, cloud-hosted IT platforms.

The contract will see Made Tech work with the agency’s teams, as well as supplying its own highly skilled engineering developers, to deliver the migration of legacy services to cloud-based environments; develop new internal and external facing services; and create online services and digital channels to improve overall customer service.

This will be the second project that Made Tech has worked on with the DVLA, and valued at £7 million is the largest contract the provider has been awarded to date.

The DVLA is headquartered in Swansea, where Made Tech also has a base of operations.

Tom Brewer, Head of Service Creation at the DVLA, said: “We’re delighted to be extending our working arrangement with Made Tech.  Over the last year we have built an excellent relationship and shared vision of how to deliver first class digital services for our customers.  The blended delivery model comprising DVLA and Made Tech staff has led to an exceptional working culture that has delivered key strategic outcomes such as our First Provisional License digital service.”

Robin Wyles, South West and Wales Market Principal at Made Tech, commented: “We are thrilled to be continuing and expanding our relationship with the DVLA, which we have been working with closely for some time now to help the agency develop its digital services, benefitting both its staff and the wider public.

“This contract win is also testament to the incredible talent that our team in Swansea possesses and the hard work they have done to date. Wales is home to fantastic, highly skilled individuals which we are lucky to be able to employ and this project will allow us to grow our presence in the region while further enhancing our offering to the public sector in the country.”
