Management Trainee Tunes into New Role With Castle Green Homes
INVESTING in future talent, Castle Green Homes has taken on Jacob Edwards as a management trainee.
Jacob, from Holyhead in North Wales, studied financial management at Liverpool John Moores University.
A previous member of Only Boys Allowed, a choir of more than 200 singers from across Wales, Jacob helped organise fundraisers and sell merchandise to support the choir. He is also a keen rugby player – but says property was his number one career choice.
“I never saw myself as a professional signer or rugby player, which is the route some of my friends have taken,” he explained.
“I enjoy anything that involves organisational skills and also have an interest in finance. I live on a farm and we’re constantly building new things for the animals or renovating the house by replacing the bathroom. The amount of construction at home gave me the inspiration and passion for taking it up as career and so I joined Castle Green Homes.”
As a management trainee he’s spending a couple of months in each department at St Asaph-based Castle Green Homes, learning about the business and how the various elements work together.
“I’m in love with what I’m doing in the commercial department at the moment but looking forward to learning more about the technical side of things and going out on site to find out where I see myself working,” Jacob said.
“Based on my experience so far I’m thinking of becoming a surveyor and looking at part-time RICS courses.”
Jacob, aged 21, already has his sights set on building his own property portfolio.
“I enjoy property development on a personal level and want to buy in the next year or two and maybe start renting properties out.”
It’s perhaps his sense of ambition that inspired Castle Green Homes, to take Jacob on.
Head of commercial Rhys Jones said: “It’s important for the future of the industry and the growth of the business that we invest in training and developing people. I spent some time as a management trainee and am using that experience to help support Jacob as he starts his career. Jacob has shown genuine passion and enthusiasm for working in the housebuilding industry and has demonstrated real potential.”
Castle Green Homes is the new identity of regional homebuilder Macbryde Homes and has a 35-year heritage. The new brand was launched in November 2020 and followed a multi-million-pound buy-out led by chief executive Gwyn Jones and backed by Bridgemere UK in September 2020.
From its North Wales heartland, where it has eight live outlets and two partnership developments, Castle Green is now expanding rapidly into the North West of England with sites in Wirral and Warrington, plus a recently opened second office at Preston Brook, near Warrington.
