Life Saving Charity Recognised By Amazon Team

The Amazon fulfilment centre in Swansea has made a £1,000 donation to The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) following the charity’s visit to Amazon to talk about safety at sea.

The RNLI is the UK’s largest volunteer lead charity that protects people from danger at sea. It operates volunteer lifeboat crews who provide a 24-hour rescue service. It also has seasonal lifeguards who look after people on busy beaches. The RNLI also runs a Flood Rescue Team which helps those affected by flooding.

RNLI crews and lifeguards have saved over 142,700 lives since 1824 but the charity also influences, supervises and educates people. Its Community Safety teams explain the risks and share safety knowledge with anyone going out to sea or to the coast.

RNLI Lifeguard Supervisor Tom John visited the Amazon fulfilment centre in Swansea to talk about safety in and around the sea. The team was inspired by the visit and wanted to support the charity with a donation.

The donation from the Amazon team will go towards providing equipment for the training of students aged 16 plus who will hopefully go on to become the future generation of RNLI volunteers.

The donation to RNLI was made as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities in and around its operating locations across the UK.

Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering more than five million healthy breakfasts to families around the UK.
