DPP joins collaborative property community with new office space in ‘Desg’

DPP Planning has relocated its Cardiff office to an innovative property-focused office community in the city.

The national urban planning consultancy, which has five regional offices across the UK, including its base in South Wales, has taken space at collaborative workspace Desg.

Meaning ‘desk’ in Welsh, Desg is located in Pontcanna on the edge of the city centre, adjacent to Llandaff Fields.  Having opened earlier this year, it has already attracted tenants including architects, property agents and communications specialists.

It also reflects the changing culture and requirements of office working post-pandemic with flexible working opportunities and additional services.  It combines a collection of diverse spaces ranging from sound absorbing booths and collaboration spaces to dedicated offices.

With the styling of a luxury hotel, businesses benefit from a dedicated concierge-style management service, a gym and a lounge with exceptional views across the neighbouring countryside.

With a team of 10 in South Wales, DPP is a highly active planning consultancy serving sectors including residential, leisure, commercial, energy and education.  Current and recent project include Cardiff University’s Centre for Student Life and Vita Students’ Bradley Court scheme in Cardiff.

Gareth Hooper, chief executive of DPP, said: “As a business that has been using hybrid working for some years, our move to Desg will further enhance that approach.  It combines great dedicated space and face-to-face working, areas for virtual meetings and incredible shared space, which promotes collaborative working with clients and the wider Desg community.”

Ross Hooper-Nash, founder of Desg, said “We’re delighted to welcome DPP to Desg and join our community of property professionals. Shared work spaces have moved on and all of our members have embraced new ways of working that benefit from being part of Desg.  We’ve created a positive, flexible environment that encourages a better work-life balance while boosting productivity, which is so important to modern businesses.”
