Carmarthenshire Council issues Storm Barra Update
As councils across Wales continue to respond to incidents created by Storm Barra, Carmarthenshire County Council have issued the following update:
“OUR crews and emergency responders continue to deal with damage and disruption caused by Storm Barra.
“A yellow warning for strong winds is still in force, with conditions expected to improve this evening.
“Unfortunately, late yesterday afternoon the high winds caused damage to the roof at Ysgol Bryngwyn in Llanelli, and the Pendine museum which is under development.
“Due to ongoing high winds, we have not yet been able to assess the extent of the damage to these buildings, but this is a priority.
“Pupils of Ysgol Bryngwyn will continue with online learning in the meantime and both pupils and parents will be kept up to date. The B4303 Dafen Road remains closed, however access to the nearby Prince Philip Hospital is available – please follow road signage. Overnight we have dealt with a number of fallen trees, and Parc Howard in Llanelli remains closed until the weather improves.
“There is no impact to bin collections.”
