Charlie says: “women should take the leap to boost their careers”
A career development programme which has seen thousands of women gain a collective pay rise of over £5million is available for sign-ups until mid-December.
Run by Chwarae Teg, the Agile Nation2 programme is fully funded by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government, and open to women working in the third or private sector who live in north west Wales as well as west Wales and the valleys.
Charlie Beynon from Swansea, who undertook the programme in 2017, hasn’t looked back since – crediting the course for her own career progress and her confidence to face and overcome any challenges.
Now the owner of Charlie’s Cleaning Angels Ltd based in Swansea, she said: “If anyone is thinking about doing the course DO IT…..don’t hesitate. I did the course back in 2017 and it gave me the confidence to train as a mortgage advisor, then when redundancy hit in May 2021 I didn’t panic as I had this management course under my belt. I decided to take a leap into the self-employed world and set up a cleaning company. Within eight weeks I had taken on three staff which I would never have had the confidence to do a without the course as I thought I was never good enough and people wouldn’t listen to me if I delegated work out.
“So, my point is that if you think you’re not good enough take a leap of faith in yourself and do it and remember we are strong independent women!”
Cheryl Royall, Career Development Partner, Chwarae Teg, said: “We are hugely proud of Charlie and the achievements made by all the women who have taken part in our programme over the years. By completing it they gain confidence, motivation and a valuable Level 2 ILM in Leadership and Team Skills qualification.
“Our courses for the first part of 2022 are filling up fast so I’d urge women who ae keen to progress in their careers to get in touch with us by mid December as applications will close then.”
