Many of us are spending more time at home. Since a lot of businesses have moved to remote working practices, we’re now at home for many additional hours when we might have been out in an office before. Whereas the décor and design of your home might not have been a problem when you were only there at weekends and for a short time each day before either going to bed or leaving for work, now that you’re there a lot more, it might be worth thinking more carefully about what you want and how you would like your home to look. You might, in other words, look for ways to elevate your property. With that in mind, here are some ideas to help you do just that.

Add Little Luxuries

You really don’t have to go all out when it comes to making your home an elevated place to live. Although you can certainly go to town by including many different luxurious elements, you don’t have to do this – you can stick to one of two gorgeous elements and, when you choose the right ones, this can be enough to make your home look and feel superb.

One option is to install an antique fireplace from stonewoods.co.uk. When you do this, you will automatically have a feature in the room that people’s eyes will be drawn to. Another option is to add one or two pieces of fabulous art. Again, this makes a feature and can lift the room impressively.

Work on the Exterior

Although you might be inside a lot more, it’s crucial not to ignore the fact that the outside of your home probably needs some care taken of it. It’s actually for this very reason that this is likely to be the case – the more time you spend inside, the less time you’ll spend looking at the exterior of your home, so you might not realise there is an issue. Therefore, go and have a look at it. Could it do with a coat of paint? Perhaps it’s just the front door that needs to be freshened up. Or maybe it’s the front garden – is it messy and overgrown? Does the driveway need to be cleaned up?

Remember, your home’s exterior is what the majority of people will see, and it will cause them to form an impression of you and how you live. Although we shouldn’t care about what other people think, if that impression is a bad one, it’s certainly worth considering making some changes.

Paint the Interior

You have many options open to you if you want to elevate your home, but many of them are expensive and disruptive. Something you can do while you are preparing for the larger jobs, both in terms of your budget and how your life will have to change, albeit temporarily, is to paint the interior of your home. This is a relatively simple job (although it can still be worth a professional doing it if you’re not confident in your abilities), but it can make a huge difference.

If you have dark colours in your home at the moment, changing them for lighter, neutral colours could really elevate your home to another level and make it much more pleasant to live in. If you still like the idea of the darker colours, why not have a feature wall to show off your personality while also elevating your home?
