AB Glass appointed for Aberystwyth campus project
Aluminium manufacturing and installation company AB Glass has been appointed by Willmott Dixon to undertake a contract at the Aberystwyth Innovation and Enterprise Campus (AIEC) at Aberystwyth University’s Gogerddan Campus.
The award-winning company based in Swansea will provide the design, manufacture and installation services at the new 7500m2 campus. The aluminium systems being used by AB Glass for the project include Kawneer AA100 curtain wall, AA540 windows, and AA720 and AA190 doors.
The £40.5m development will be home to various laboratories, pilot processing areas, offices and meeting spaces and will be located at Aberystwyth University’s Gogerddan Campus. The AIEC will also promote collaboration between business and academia, while providing world-leading facilities and expertise for the food and drink, biotechnology and agri-tech sectors.
AB Glass is anticipated to start work on the project during early March 2019. The campus is due for completion in July 2020.
Alan Brayley, managing director at AB Glass, said:
“We are very proud to be a part of a project that is so innovative and will offer world class facilities to businesses, academics and many others. There has been substantial progress made on the campus already and we are thrilled to have been appointed yet again by Willmott Dixon to provide our services at this stage of the project.
“Our work with Welsh universities in recent years has been significant, so adding the AIEC to our portfolio further shows our expertise and strong reputation in this sector. We are eager to make a start on site and look forward to seeing the development really taking shape during the coming months.”
The AIEC project marks another achievement for AB Glass as the company heads into 2019 with solid contracts to pursue, such as Nerrols Primary School in the South West. The company successfully undertook many educational-based projects during 2018 including Ysgol Carreg Hir in Neath Port Talbot, Croesyceiliog School in Cwmbran, Swansea University’s IMPACT buildings and the Route 39 Academy in North Devon.
