Wales’ Noel Mooney to be keynote speaker at IoD Wales awards
IoD Wales can announce that Noel Mooney, CEO, Football Association of Wales (FAW) will be the keynote speaker at its Director of the Year awards which will be held over lunch on Friday 20 May 2022 at ICC Wales.
Noel was appointed FAW’s Chief Executive in 2021 and is already capturing hearts and minds of the nation following the team’s recent win against Austria, putting them into the World Cup play-off final.
He joined FAW from UEFA where he was Head of Strategic Development working with all 55 European federations on their development including strategy, commercial revenues, participation, public affairs, digital transformation, and governance.
Noel hails from Cappamore, Limerick in the Republic of Ireland and is a former League of Ireland goalkeeper who played for Limerick, Cork City and Shamrock Rovers. Following his playing career, he joined the Football Association of Ireland in 2006 where his role was focussed on domestic football, later having the responsibility of marketing the League of Ireland.
Jo Price, Nations Manager, IoD Wales said: “We’re all looking forward to these awards so much, especially after postponing twice due to Covid guidelines and restrictions. I am absolutely thrilled to welcome Noel as our keynote speaker and hear all about his work with Wales’ football team during such an exciting time for them! This won’t be a speech you’ll want to miss.
“Huge congratulations again go to all those who have made the shortlist and best wishes to everyone for the final.”
