WHEN retiree Vicky Jones was looking for a new, more peaceful, home, a bungalow was the last thing on her mind.

But when she and husband Philip saw the Budleigh bungalow show home on the first phase of the award-winning Parc Ceirw Garden Village in Morriston, she knew she had to have it.

Vicky, a former care home team leader, says: “I knew from the minute I saw it, it was my dream home.  It looked lovely from the front – but when I walked round to the back and saw the bi-fold doors that open onto the garden, and the apex of the roof, I fell in love with it.

“It’s a nice size with a lovely big hallway and the architecture and design are beautiful.  I have an en-suite to the main bedroom, a south-facing garden, which I’ve never had before, and it’s overlooking the golf course.”

She laughs: “Philip and I usually go on holiday about four times a year, we cruise a lot, but now it’s as if we are on holiday all the time. I keep pinching myself because I feel so lucky and if I won another bungalow or house that was worth £1 million, or even £3 million, I wouldn’t care. I’d want this one!”

Parc Ceirw Garden Village will be eventually feature 300 new homes from the Edenstone Group’s two housing brands, Edenstone Homes and Bluebell Homes, and with many focusing on a healthier lifestyle for the future, it will offer an equipped, circular outdoor fitness trail, a gym within a community hub, and access to bike hire.

It was the tranquil setting that appealed to Vicky and husband Philip, a retired market trader, whose previous home close to the beach in Baglan was getting ‘too noisy’.

The couple chose the three-bedroom Budleigh bungalow, attracted to the modern, open-plan design of the kitchen, dining and living area, and loving the three spacious bedrooms, one of which they have turned into a music room for Philip’s guitars and jukebox, and the third of which is a spare room for when friends or family – they have two grown-up daughters, Lisa and Cherie, and a grandson, Cameron – come to stay.

“I liked the show home so much, I have bought the same black Chesterfield sofas, and glass dining table – and I even chose the same kitchen tiles and the same marble wallpaper on the main wall,” smiles Vicky.

“I have lovely neighbours and the area is so quiet and peaceful, it’s perfect for us. Philip loves wildlife and we have squirrels, foxes and all kinds of birds visiting the garden and Morriston is closer to where he goes fishing than where we were before; we have all the amenities down the road, like the post office, and yet Swansea is only 10 minutes away and Llan Samlet, where I often go shopping, is only five minutes from here.

“There’s only one way in and one way out so I feel safe and secure. It’s pure bliss… my new home is just out of this world!”

Their home is part of the first phase of 28 bungalows, named the Insider Wales Residential Development of the Year in 2021. A new Edenstone phase is coming soon, with the new community also featuring designs from Bluebell Homes.

Between the two brands, there’s plenty of choice including both detached and semi-detached homes and bungalows, all offering residents the opportunity to live healthy and active lives, set within a stunning landscaped environment which encourages a sense of belonging and community.
