St David’s Dewi Sant has been taken over by giant ice lollies and floral displays this summer as it welcomes the gorgeous and colourful Lollydays installation.

The mammoth lollies are each more than three metres long and are suspended in mid air above The Hayes shopping arcade within St David’s. The five lollies form part of a 40-metre long floral display featuring 6,000 artificial flowers and foliage stems across the skyline of the arcade including peonies, poppies, roses, wisteria, gladiolus and gerberas. A new stunning selfie arch has also been installed on the upper level of the Grand Arcade, located near River Island and Victoria’s Secret, which overlooks the display and gives guests the opportunity to snap photos during their visit.

The bold and colourful Lollydays display was intricately constructed over two-and-a-half months for St David’s in a workshop by James Glancy Design before being carefully couriered into St David’s. The lollies and floral displays were installed in the middle of the night by a specialist team using cherry pickers to lift them into place, taking three nights to complete before being officially unveiled on summer solstice (Tuesday 21st June).

The arrival of Lollydays launches a summer of activity at St David’s, including selfie competitions and more.

Helen Morgan, Centre Director at St David’s Dewi Sant Cardiff, said: “We’re so excited to unveil the glorious Lollydays installation at St David’s. We can’t wait to see our guests enjoying the vibrant display, and hope to see plenty of selfies shared on social media.”

Lollydays will be on show at St David’s from now until 12th September. Guests are invited to enjoy the colourful installation and snap selfies during centre opening hours. For more information, visit https://stdavidscardiff.com/
