How to take care of your hair in summer
Who doesn’t love beautiful hair? However, in Summer, frequent trips to the beach, salty air and sea breezes along with heat from the sun, can combine to play havoc with the condition of your hair. Here’s some tips on keeping your hair healthy.
Proper hair washing
Washing hair is a basic and obvious element of care. Surprisingly, few people do it properly. Of course, you should start by rinsing off any chlorine or salt – and by choosing the right shampoo.
Guides on how to choose a shampoo for our hair type can help, but in truth, there is no substitute for trial and error – and bear in mind, you may also need to switch shampoo occasionally to avoid product build up. Once we have the right shampoo in our bathroom, we apply a small amount of it to our hand. It is very important to apply it to the scalp when it is already wet.
Separate the hair to ensure you apply evenly across the hair, and remember, it’s the hair you are washing, not your head!
You should also remember not to wash the root of the hair too intensively because intensive stimulation of this area may cause the formation of dandruff. After thoroughly rinsing the hair, gently squeeze it and wrap it with a towel. An overlooked and important element of hair care is not to comb it when it is wet. It is best to wait a while until the hair dries and comb it when it is moist.
Styling hair without damaging it
Hair styling is the element of care, which is the most commonly performed wrong. Few people know that hair should not be combed too often, especially when dry. In most cases (especially when you are dealing with wavy or curly hair), all you need to do is comb your hair with your fingers. However, if you decide to comb your hair with a brush, it is crucial to choose the right one, i.e., one that will not damage your hair. For combing, it is best to use brushes with natural bristles or with synthetic needles. They perfectly separate the strands without causing damage.
When blow drying, blow for longer at a lower temperature if you can, rather than applying maximum heat. A blow dry spray can help protect your hair.
It’s important to avoid styling with too much heat, ideally leaving a straightener or curling iron for special occasions. If you must use them, then use a styling spray to minimise damage, and don’t use at a very high temperature. This type of styling can destroy our hair.
Nourishing your hair is the key to their health
The key to hair care is styling. Everyone has heard about conditioners; their use is also not complicated – simply apply after shampooing, leave for a minute or two, then rinse.
Again, selecting the right conditioner for your hair type is important – and regardless of the type of hair, it is best to choose one with a moisturizing or smoothing ingredient. Apply the product from half the length of the hair to the ends. We can also use homemade, natural scalp lotion that perfectly nourishes the follicles. Conditioners and lotions, however, are not everything. Our hair will not be healthy and nourished if our body lacks key elements for its health and development.
However caring for your hair comes from the inside too! In order for hair to be strong, healthy, and shiny, your diet should be healthy too. For this reason, dietary supplements that will enrich your hair from the inside can really help. There are many such supplements available on the market, but few of them focus specifically on hair care. One exception is the online store Your Secret Is, which in its offer contains supplements tailored to specific problems. Beautiful hair products are a great solution for people who want to easily take care of the health and strength of their hair.
