D H Transport backs roadside litter campaign
D H Transport and Courier Services calls on motorists to ‘Drive your litter home’ as part of Keep Wales Tidy’s national roadside litter campaign
D H Transport and Courier Services is the first transport company in Wales to back Keep Wales Tidy’s campaign to urge drivers to keep their conscience and our roadsides clear.
Based in Ceredigion, the delivery company travels across the UK, Ireland and Europe and urges drivers to keep their conscience and our roadsides clear of litter.
Dan Horne at D H Transport and Courier Services said:
“At D H Transport and Courier services, we’re proud to support Keep Wales Tidy’s national roadside litter campaign by taking their ‘Drive your litter home’ message on the road using our vehicles. We respect the roads in Wales and beyond to protect the environment, wildlife, and beautiful views.
“It’s awful to see the roadsides covered in rubbish when it’s so easy to hang onto your waste whilst driving and disposing of it when you reach a bin or when you get home.
“We encourage other companies in the transport sector to join the campaign to help keep the Welsh roadsides clear of litter. When you’re out and about on the roads please leave nothing behind you and drive your litter home.”
As well as Wales-wide outdoor advertising, Keep Wales Tidy are looking for other transport companies to take their national campaign on the roads.
The nationwide campaign is being run as part of Caru Cymru (a Welsh phrase meaning ‘Love Wales’) – an inclusive movement led by Keep Wales Tidy and councils to inspire people to take action and care for the environment.
Keep Wales Tidy Policy and Research Manager, Jemma Bere said:
“We’re delighted to welcome D H Transport and Courier Services on board to help us put our foot down on roadside litter.
“During a recent 2021 survey of commercial drivers across the UK, many drivers felt there’s a lack of facilities to dispose of their rubbish at lorry parks, service stations and ferry terminals.
“Alongside our local authority partners, we’re looking at ways to encourage employers of commercial drivers to develop waste disposal policies and facilities at depots and in vehicles to reduce the pressure to litter.
“Using an odour-proof car bin can be handy when on long journeys and easily emptied at home on return but we need to look how we promote responsible waste behaviour at every step of the journey.
“We all know that littering is wrong, and our message is clear, ‘Drive your litter home’ and keep your conscience and our roadsides clear.”
