Whitchurch Heath Cricket Club receives Craft Union grant

Whitchurch Heath Cricket Club (WHCC) has received a £2000 grant from Craft Union, owners of local public house The Oak, to help with restorative work.

The grant will fund urgent repairs to WHCC’s clubhouse, which houses their equipment, toilets and showers for players, and a kitchen. The roof will be restored, shower fittings will be replaced and deep cleaned due to not being used for two years due to the pandemic, and much-needed seating for the grounds will be provided.

Founded in 1927, WHCC has four Senior league sides and a thriving youth section running teams at ages under 9, 11,13 and 15. They are dedicated to playing competitive cricket in a welcoming, inclusive and social atmosphere in north Cardiff suburb Whitchurch.

Peter Bryon, WHCC Chair, said: “We’re so grateful for the support of Craft Union. After a tough two years due to the pandemic, it’s great to see our local club thriving and the boys back doing what they love, and that’s thanks to the support of local businesses like The Oak.”

At Craft Union, we’re committed to supporting community causes, with our Crafty Community supporting local and national charities and causes throughout the year. We’re looking forward to watching the boys in action and seeing our donation put to good use.”
