RMS Becomes a DofE Gold Associate Supporter
Proud Supporters of a Worthy Cause
Every year the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) inspires hundreds of thousands of young people, from all walks of life, to explore who they are, grow in confidence and develop the skills they need to successfully navigate life.
Retail Merchandising Service (RMS) is a long-standing supporter of DofE Wales and the company want to help even more young people in Wales to build life-long belief in themselves, supporting them to take on their own challenges, follow their passions, and discover talents they never knew they had.
The DofE programme has never been more relevant for young people as numerous studies show that 18-25 year olds have been disproportionately affected by the recent global challenges.
Current owners of RMS, brothers Daniel and Connah O’Toole, sadly lost their father and founder of RMS, Peter O’Toole, in 2015 due to a rare lung cancer. Having only lived until the age of 53, the brothers realise more than most that life is short and that people should live life to the fullest. The DofE Award sets young people up for success and builds the confidence in them to step out of their comfort zone.
RMS supports the DofE Wales wherever and whenever possible. This month in August 2022 they held the 2022 RMS Charity Golf Day comprising of teams from some major companies throughout the UK like B&Q, John Lewis Partnership and then they also had a brave team that took to the skies at Skydive Swansea and jumped 12,000 feet out of a plane in their “Dive for DofE” initiative! These two events alone enabled RMS raised over £20,000 for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in Wales.
Daniel O’Toole, Owner and CEO of RMS said:
“As well as our work with the DofE, I have also previously worked with and represented young people and students as the President of the University of Bath Students’ Union in 2009-11.
“It is an honour to be able to raise money for such a worthy cause. Having personally experienced the DofE many years ago, and as a student representative in a previous role, I’ve seen first-hand how important this initiative can be for the development of our future generations. We look forward to continuing supporting DofE Wales for many years to come”
Ian Gwilym, Senior Relationships Manager, DofE Wales, said:
“As a charity we rely on support from Companies like RMS. As a Gold Associate supporter you are helping more young people to build life-long belief in themselves, supporting them to take on their own challenges, helping them follow their passions and enabling them to discover talents they never knew they had.”
Steph Price, DofE Wales Director, added:
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone at RMS for continuing to have DofE Wales as your Charity partner, not only of course for the incredible donations but also for the way in which you always embody the DofE’s ethos of determination and self-belief, with a good deal of fun too, so important for all of us, but particularly for young people right now, moving forward from the pandemic.”
RMS will continue to support the DofE with fundraising events to help the charity continue the great work they do in supporting young people.
