Cardiff Resident Kerry Lewis Celebrates Her 40th Year At Brook Street

In July 1982, Kerry Lewis walked into Brook Street on Queen Street, Cardiff looking for a job and this year the business marks her 40 year anniversary.

Kerry started her career in the telesales team, where she spent her time trawling through papers and calling adverts. Kerry was quickly promoted to Branch Manager in the late 1980s where she ran the branch until 2001, winning branch of the year in 1994, and has spent the last 20 years as a recruitment consultant. Kerry achieved vast awards over the years but most memorably was time she was invited to lunch with Margery Hurst, founder of Brook Street in 1983, after winning the “Telesales colleague of the year” having picked up over 1000 vacancies that year

Kerry was born and bred in Cardiff, and has dedicated her career to Brook Street. However, it is not only Brook Street that has seen her hard work and determination. Kerry spends her time outside of work fundraising for the City Hospice, Cardiff who cared for her late husband. She has completed sponsored walks and swims in the local area, as well as helping pack bags in the local supermarkets to raise money.

“A memory I won’t forget, was in the late 1980s, I had decided to take advantage of the Lord Mayor’s Parade in Cardiff which coincided with Brook Street’s new branding & logos. I was determined to increase publicity for the brand and so I had my company car covered in the new logos and tagged behind the Lord Mayors car without permission, handing leaflets out to the general public. However, I had not been given permission I ended up in a lot of trouble!”
