The Vale of Glamorgan Council is set to invest around £90,000 to upgrade the Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) on Cwrt-Y-Vil Recreation Ground.

Contractors are currently submitting designs for the project, which will see facilities refreshed and improved.

This comes after the Penarth Youth Action Group identified the site as one they would like to see enhanced.

Work at the location on St Mark’s Road in Penarth is expected to start shortly and should be completed by March.

This redevelopment is part of a widespread programme to upgrade play facilities across the Vale.

It follows similar recent work at St David’s Crescent play area in Penarth, Windmill Lane in Llantwit Major and Clos Peiriant and Central Park in Barry.

Cllr Mark Wilson, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood and Building Services said:

“I’m excited to see our extensive play area improvement work continue with a project to refurbish the MUGA on the Recreation Ground in Penarth.

“This work has seen facilities upgraded throughout the Vale, giving children modern, safe engaging spaces in which to exercise.

“Staying active is vitally important at all stages of life, not least when young as doing so can establish healthy habits that last a lifetime.

“More upgrades are in the pipeline, with news to follow in due course.”
