Meet Barratt Homes South Wales’ 20,000th homeowners …as the housebuilder celebrates historic milestone

This week saw Barratt Homes celebrating the completion of its 20,000th home in South Wales and the border counties — at its Chapel Fields development in Swansea.

Homeowners, Richard and Alexia, moved into their new four-bedroom home this summer — 16 years after the purchase of their first Barratt home at nearby Parc Bryn Heulog in 2006.

The couple’s new home — a large, detached property known as ‘The Hemsworth’ — was purchased using Barratt’s Part Exchange scheme.

Richard said: “The flexibility of the Part Exchange scheme really was excellent — we were kept up-to-date throughout every stage of the process, and the strong working relationship between the estate agent and our sales advisor, Nathan, was clear to see.

“Not only do we now have beautiful views of the Loughor Esturary and two more bedrooms than we previously had — the house also makes excellent use of space, meaning the four bedrooms are evenly-sized and haven’t left us with a box room.

“We also know that the energy efficiency of a new-build Barratt home as compared with the likes of a Victorian townhouse will help ease the burden of increased energy costs this winter.”

Having laid its first brick in South Wales in 1978, Barratt Developments has created 68ha* of green space and made £84m* of contributions towards physical works since 2015 alone.

During that time, the local housebuilder has also supported approximately 86,000* jobs — including 107 graduates, apprentices and trainees. And by now, 99% of its construction waste is diverted from landfill.

What’s more, the local housebuilder has contributed over £200,000 in local charitable donations since 2018, helping to make a real difference to the lives of people within South Wales’ communities.

David Kelland, Operations Director for Barratt Developments South Wales, said: “Here at Barratt, we pride ourselves on both our customer service and the quality of the homes we build — which is why so many of our customers, just like Richard and Alexia, return to us when they’re ready to upsize or change location.

“Not only have we built 20,000 properties here in South Wales — we have also created over 270 friendly communities that our residents are proud to call home, and we look forward to building on this success for years to come.”
