Swansea University to offer free roadshows to boost industry’s success
Three Swansea University projects designed to help the manufacturing industry in Wales are joining forces to host free roadshows this month.
ASTUTE 2020, METAL and M2A have brought many benefits to the manufacturing sector in Wales by strengthening knowledge and making manufacturers more innovative, competitive and sustainable.
This May, the three projects, in partnership with MAKE UK – the Manufacturers’ Organisation – will present an ‘Innovation and Skills for Manufacturing’ roadshow, across three locations in North Wales, Mid Wales and South East Wales.
METAL Project Manager, Khalil Khan said:
“Businesses are increasingly focusing on improvements in three key areas: Innovation, Collaboration and Training with investment in these areas essential for maximising potential.
“The Innovation and Skills for Manufacturing roadshows will inform manufacturers what support is available to upskill workforces, exploit opportunities for collaboration, and ultimately gain competitive advantages.”
The three projects focus on specific needs:
METAL – addresses skills shortages in the manufacturing sector through the provision of work-based learning leading to the up-skilling of the workforce.
ASTUTE 2020 – Applies advanced engineering technologies to manufacturing challenges – driving cutting edge R & D and Innovation, increasing competitiveness and future proofing.
M2A – Industry- led postgraduate research focusing on EngD and MSc collaborations in Advanced Materials and Manufacturing and generating the future leaders of industry training to take on tomorrow’s challenges.
