Celebrating Carers Rights Day in Newport
This year Carers Rights Day takes place on Thursday 24 November and is a time to raise awareness of the rights that unpaid carers have and recognise their contribution to our society.
To celebrate Carers Rights Day, the council’s community connector team will be hosting an information event at The Riverfront Theatre.
The team will be with local partners between 1pm and 6pm and will be on hand to provide information and advice on for unpaid carers of all ages and backgrounds. Free refreshments will also be provided.
A carer is someone of any age who cares for a relative or friend who couldn’t manage without their help. This could be looking after someone who is ill, disabled, has mental ill health, substance misuse problems or needs a bit more help as they get older.
Newport City Council has a wealth of support and information for carers online including contact details for the community connectors team. Visit www.newport.gov.uk/carers.
