A Briton Ferry primary school has received a £1,000 donation from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Swansea.

Ysgol Carreg Hir is a primary school in Briton Ferry, just outside Neath. The school encourages collaboration between staff, families and the community to allow children to learn in a stimulating and supportive environment.

The donation from Amazon in Swansea will go towards orienteering resources, topic books, tools for bushcraft and a basecamp survival kit.

Christopher Law, General Manager at Amazon in Swansea, said:

“We’re pleased to support the education of our young people and hope this donation will lend a helping hand to staff and pupils at Ysgol Carreg Hir Primary School.”

Andrew Barfoot, who works at Amazon in Swansea who nominated the charity for support, added:

“Ysgol Carreg Hir provides a great educational setting for pupils. My wife is a member of teaching staff at the school and it’s great to hear that Amazon has recognised its efforts.”

Lesley Hynes, Headteacher of Ysgol Carreg Hir, added:

“On behalf of the staff and pupils at Ysgol Carreg Hir, I would like to thank Christopher and the team at Amazon in Swansea. This donation will be very helpful for our school.”

The donation to Ysgol Carreg Hir was made as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities in and around its operating locations across the UK.
