Wild Blossom Forest School Nurtures Nature & Minds with a little help from Robert Price

Robert Price Builders Merchants were delighted to donate timber to Wild Blossom Forest School, a nature-based learning social enterprise that aims to encourage a deeper connection with nature through activities, lessons and play.

Open to kids of all ages during school hours, holidays, weekends and evenings, Wild Blossom Forest School focuses on education, connecting with nature, promoting wellbeing and creating a safe space within their private wild wood in Caerphilly, where a deeper connection to the natural world can blossom.

As well as predominantly working with home educating families, they also work with charities like Single Parents Wellbeing, Brownies groups, colleges and schools.

Before the school opened in the beginning of March this year, they contacted Robert Price for a donation of timber. The builders’ merchants were thrilled to support them, especially when they heard what was going to be made from the materials.

The school have created fantastic educational, communal projects, including a compost toilet, a tree house, a camp area equipped with benches and tables, a mud kitchen, and many other little projects – perfect for stimulating child led play and their imaginations.

“The donation was invaluable to us in starting our school and gave us more than the practical means to support our dream. It also gave us faith in the abundance of kindness and generosity that still exists in each of us.” said Amie Simons from Wild Blossom Forest School.

“Many of the projects we created with the wood were essential to being able to open the forest school – the compost toilet for example, and benches for the camp area!” she continued.

The forest school not only teaches practical skills like fire lighting, tool use and how to grow your own food, but also helps to impart resilience, creativity, self-understanding and promote a deeper relationship with nature, which not only benefits health and wellbeing but also the planet.

Being only five months into opening, they are already being told by parents that their school has become ‘a happy place’ for them and their children.

Now serving more than 100 children and families a week, Wild Blossom Forest School are open to the local community and beyond, some travelling from as far as Brecon. They’ve even started to run adult workshops and offer training for organisations and individuals wanting to work more within nature.

The work doesn’t stop there either, with the left-over timber donated by Robert Price, Wild Blossom Forest School are planning on building a community woodland theatre to host events for the community.

“It’s great to hear the donation is making a difference. We are delighted to have contributed to this wonderful initiative.” said Janet Jefferies, Branch Manager from Robert Price.

“We look forward to seeing the woodland theatre once it’s been completed!”.
