The CEO of a leading health and social care company welcomed colleagues from the charity, Doctors in Distress, to celebrate a fantastic fundraising total of £11,220, which was raised on a charity hike up Yr Wyddfa/Mount Snowdon.

The trek saw a team of 19 Cygnet Health Care and Cygnet Social Care colleagues take on the challenging 13km route along the Watkin Path, which is one of the toughest routes up the 3,560ft mountain.

Cygnet CEO Dr Tony Romero was delighted to have colleagues from the charity visit his staff at their London-based office.

As Patron of the charity Dame Clare Gerada warmly welcomed the donation saying: “This was no mean feat and represents a truly brilliant effort by the Cygnet team to complete this challenge.

“On behalf of Doctors in Distress I am truly grateful to receive such a phenomenal amount of money and I want to say thank you for fundraising for us. This money really will make a difference and enable us to keep supporting medics who are burnt out, stressed and quite frankly at risk of taking their own lives. It’s a very sobering thought.

“Through the work being done by Doctors in Distress we can keep providing support for those who care for the nation’s health. Thank you to the Cygnet team for their efforts and generosity.”

Dr Tony Romero was joined by the organisation’s Senior Independent Director, Lord Patel of Bradford, who congratulated the team of trekkers.

Dr Romero said: “I am really proud of the determination and teamwork that was shown as we took on the challenge together. I love challenges like this but I know for some of the team, it was out of their comfort zone and not like anything they have done before. Through encouragement and good humour we made it to the top on a beautiful day and shared a great sense of achievement.

“The team’s individual fundraising efforts have collectively raised over £11,200 which will support health care professionals suffering with their own mental health. It’s important we are there for them.”

Dame Clare was joined by Doctors in Distress Ambassador Carole Stone.
