Construction of Bellway’s Heron’s Mead development in Newport is in its final stages.

The Bellway scheme is creating 152 properties on part of the former Llanwern steelworks site and, with work nearing completion, there are now only seven homes remaining for sale.

Heron’s Mead is the second phase of development completed by Bellway as part of the regeneration of the wider site, following the construction of 182 homes at neighbouring Monks Meadow. Bellway has now started work on a third phase of the project at nearby Alder Grove, with homes there due to be released for sale in January next year.

Rhodri Davies, Sales Manager for Bellway Wales, said: “The site at Heron’s Mead has been utterly transformed. Construction work is almost complete and there are only a handful of opportunities left to purchase a property here.

“What was once a site of heavy industry is now a busy and vibrant neighbourhood with new residents moving in and getting to know each other. It’s got a great community feel.

“Soon all the homes will be complete, and we are looking forward to seeing the last residents settling into their properties.

“It has certainly been a popular development that has appealed to a range of people. The quality and the variety of designs have made Heron’s Mead very attractive to local buyers and the location has also been important as access to the M4 makes journeys to Cardiff or Bristol easy.”

Work began at Heron’s Mead in the autumn of 2019. Almost all the homes that have been sold are occupied, with just a couple still going through the final stages of the purchase process.

Heron’s Mead features a range of house types and styles. There are terraced, detached and semi-detached homes ranging from two to four-bedroom properties on the development.

The final homes include a choice of four-bedroom detached houses, priced from £384,995.
