A large South Wales multi-disciplined contractor has teamed up with one of Wales’ longest established IT companies, as part of a collaboration which would ensure that performance, availability, storage and security are delivered against key project objectives, safeguarding the company infrastructure for the future.

CSG Computer Services had been tasked by E.G. Lewis Group to evaluate current IT systems, as well as make appropriate recommendations for technological changes.

Following an in-depth audit, CSG Computer Services proposed the installation of two Gen10 HPE DL360 servers, each with 2x 10 core CPU (40 core HT), 128GB RAM, redundant OS-only HDDs and redundant PSUs. Both hosts would run the latest version of Windows Server Hyper-V to provide the redundancy, fail over and balancing of the virtual machines between the physical servers. The storage array in place would allow for peak disk I/O performance as well as redundancy in case of drive failure. This would give E.G. Lewis Group an upgrade in performance and redundancy, as well as bring server software up-to-date by running on Windows Server 2019.

Moving away from a locally stored server environment was key to the project. The collaboration removed the onsite responsibility of managing hardware and backup solutions, and data centre co-location boasts massive credentials, giving E.G Lewis Group the flexibility to scale the IT environment at will whilst maintaining cutting-edge security and backup.

Dameon Merilaht, Account Manager at CSG Computer Services, said:

“CSG began working with E.G. Lewis Group earlier this year and were tasked with building a secure, remote IT solution that would cater for the needs of the business and drill down into security and backup & disaster recovery. Following an audit of the existing IT environment by one of CSG’s Solutions Architects, a solution was proposed that would see all core infrastructure being held within the CSG Data Centre, with leading Sophos Intercept X ransomware protection and Datto BUDR. This would allow for an immediate recovery in the event of a hardware/site failure.

“To complement this, CSG’s IT Managed Service will provide on-going proactive maintenance/support to ensure the network and relationship are well maintained moving forward.”

Rhys Perry, General Manager of E.G. Lewis Group, added:

“The new systems we’re setting up with CSG will help support continued growth of the business, future-proofing our operations while allowing a robust continuity plan. We’re happy to be working with CSG to deliver this project”.
