Bridgend County Borough news round-up – Friday 24 May
Bank Holiday waste and recycling collection plans confirmed
The council would like to remind residents of its bank holiday waste and recycling arrangements.
There will be no collections on Monday 27 May, and as a result all collections that week will be one day later than usual until Saturday 1 June.
Residents are asked to place their recycling and waste at their property’s edge by 7am on your collection day.
Community recycling centres at Brynmenyn, Maesteg and Pyle will remain open as normal.
Following reports of abuse towards recycling and waste crew members, we would like to remind residents that harassment and intimidation of staff will not be tolerated.
For more information on waste and recycling collections, please visit the council’s website.

Invasive Species Week is here!!
This week is Invasive Species Week and several Balsam Bash events will be held in the coming weeks to help stop the spread of Himalayan Balsam and protect local wildlife.
The events will take place at:
- Parc Calon Lan: Tuesday 18 June & Tuesday 16 July, 10am
- Bedford Park: Friday 14 June & Friday 26 July, 10am
Himalayan Balsam is an invasive plant that has a detrimental impact on our native species. It can spread very quickly and grows in dense stands which crowd out many native species whilst also drawing bees and other pollinators from local plants.
