Newly refurbished children’s play areas in Bridgend get green light to reopen – but one hit by vandals already
Bridgend County Borough Council has announced that planned work is now complete at the following play areas in Bridgend County Borough:
- The toddler play area at Heol Y Goedwig play park in Porthcawl has all-new safer surfacing in a variety of colours, along with a new inclusive spring seesaw, a flower-themed inclusive springy, an interactive inclusive play panel, talk tubes and an accessible wheelchair friendly picnic bench. The junior area has also had a new rotating net climber.
- Waunllwyd play park in Nantymoel which has new play equipment including animal-themed springers, a multi-play unit with climbing frame and slide and junior swings.
- Beechwood play park in Pencoed which has a dish inclusive roundabout and inclusive swing, mutil-play unit with climbing frame and slide and curved springers.
- Pencoed Rec which has a new, inclusive roundabout and inclusive swing along with two mutli-play units with climbing frame and slides.
All the sites have been inspected and passed by the Independent RPII Annual Inspector and are now back open for the public use and families to enjoy.
These play areas form part the current round of play park refurbishments which include more than 20 children’s play areas across the county borough. More details on further play parks reopening will be announced soon.
Sadly, there have been reports that vandalism has already taken place in one of the new play areas at Pencoed Rec. Vandalism is a crime and any acts of vandalism will be reported to South Wales Police.
