Visit beautiful Pwllygarth Farm garden in Kenfig Hill for charity

For the third-year members of the public will be able to visit the beautiful Pwllygarth Farm in Garth Street, Kenfig Hill as part of the National Open Garden Scheme on Saturday 27th July at 10.00am-5.00pm and Sunday 28th July at 11.00am-4.00pm.

The National Garden Scheme gives visitors unique access to over 3,500 exceptional private gardens and last year through admissions, teas and cakes made a total donation made a total donation of over £3.4million to national nursing and health charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Hospice UK.

Pwllygarth Farm was originally built by heiress Emily Charlotte Talbot in 1904 as a working farm. Its garden has been completely transformed over 5 years, from what had become a concrete wasteland to a wonderland, by the new owner Cheryl Bass. The front and side gardens are now a mix of rose gardens, sedum planted walls, raised rockery beds, small woodland garden and a landscaped paved area. The rear garden offers a Japanese garden, butterfly rockery, summerhouse, reading corner, a creative central shrub bed around an upcycled tree trunk and the centre piece a self-build pond.

Admission is £5 for adults and free for children with all funds raised being donated to some of the UK’s best-loved nursing and health charities.

You can pre-book your tickets in advance at https://ngs.org.uk/ or you can just turn up and pay on the day. Tea, home-made Welsh cakes, scone, cupcakes will also be on sale, so visitors can sit back, relax and enjoy the beautiful garden, while enjoying a hot or cold drink and delicious cake.
