Chester Business Club Charity Walk Raises Over £10,000 for Local Charities

Chester Business Club’s annual charity walk raised over £10,000 for local charities, organisers have announced.

Nearly 200 determined walkers braved heavy rain on September 15 to participate in the event to support local healthcare, youth programs, and community services across Chester.

The six-mile walk, which started and finished at Chester Racecourse, attracted participants and several enthusiastic dogs, all eager to make a difference for charities across Chester.

Despite challenging weather, the event went on as planned, marking a successful day filled with community spirit and impactful fundraising.

This event was co-sponsored by Chester Racecourse and city-based media firm Magnify PR, both of which are longstanding supporters of the charity walk.

This partnership stresses the strong tradition of collaboration between Chester’s businesses and community initiatives, reinforcing a culture of giving back to the local community.

Nick Owens, Founder of Magnify PR and WTS Media, shared his enthusiasm for the event’s success, saying: “I am delighted and very proud to have helped to play a small part in ensuring many good causes across the city will get lifeline funds.”

Peter Broxton, Chester Business Club executive council member and chair of the Charity Walk, expressed his pride in the event’s outcome. He said “We are absolutely delighted that the charities who took part in this year’s Chester Business Club Charity Walk raised a total over £10k for their great causes. Thanks to all our sponsors, especially co-headliners Magnify PR and Chester Racecourse, and we are looking forward to the 2025 walk on Sunday, 21st September.”

This year’s event was officially opened by Clare Hayward, the current High Sheriff of Chester, who praised the walk for fostering a sense of community and commitment to local causes. Several international students also volunteered as stewards, adding a diverse and inclusive aspect to the event.

Along the route, walkers enjoyed refreshment stations stocked with treats such as Mars Bars, orange juice, bacon sandwiches, and vegetarian options, with a celebratory gin and tonic or soft drink awaiting them at the finish line. Face painting and a “best-behaved dog” contest added a touch of fun, encouraging participants of all ages to join in.

The Chester Business Club’s annual charity walk has quickly become a highlight on the city’s calendar, providing local businesses and residents an opportunity to gather, socialize, and support meaningful initiatives across Chester. This year, the funds raised will go toward charities dedicated to improving the lives of Chester residents in essential areas like healthcare and youth services.

The Chester Business Club is already planning next year’s charity walk, set for Sunday, 21st September 2025, with a goal to make it even more inclusive and impactful. Organisers are exploring new activities and encouraging more participants, sponsors, and supporters to join in another memorable day of fundraising.
