Christmas cheer starts at Denbigh Care Home
Dolwen Care Home in Denbigh has kicked off the festive period with a successful Fair, which allowed families, friends, staff and members of the public to come along and celebrate with the residents, whilst taking part in a number of fun events.
Throughout the day, the home held a Raffle, Tombola and a guess the weight of the cake competition (winning weight was 1.17kg). There were also craft stalls and Meifod Wood products had their own display table.
The residents all got involved throughout the day, helping to man the stalls and serving refreshments and cakes to the attendees.
The money raised is for the home’s amenities fund, which is used to benefit the residents with extra treats, such as day trips out and by booking entertainment for the home.
Enid, a resident at Dolwen Care Home said:
“We had a great day, it was very well attended. I helped on the cake stall. Pam, the manager took the money, and I gave the change.
It was very nice to see the families supporting us too.”
Councillor Elen Heaton, Lead Member for Health and Social Care said:
“It’s lovely that members of the community came and enjoyed the festive fun at Dolwen, along with many of the residents’ families coming along too.
I am glad that it was so well attended, enjoying sweet treats and celebrating together is part of what Christmas is all about!”
