Carolyn Thomas MS meets Perfect Pups at Dogs Trust Cardiff
Carolyn Thomas MS was welcomed to Dogs Trust Cardiff Rehoming Centre last week, where she was greeted by a wagging tail reception.
North Wales MS Carolyn, who chairs the Senedd’s Animal Welfare Cross Party Group, was introduced to Hiccup the Greyhound, just one of the over 100 dogs currently in the care of Dogs Trust Cardiff. With her own rescue dog at home, Carolyn was more than happy to meet Hiccup and some of the dogs who are looking to find their forever home.
After meeting many of the rehoming centre’s residents, both young and old, she talked to the Dogs Trust Cardiff team about the need to regulate rehoming, better dog breeding legislation and improving microchip legislation.
Following her visit, Carolyn Thomas MS, said: “I really enjoyed visiting Dogs Trust Cardiff, and it is fantastic to see how hard the staff work to ensure that all of the dogs in their care are incredibly well looked after. I was impressed by the passion and enthusiasm that Dogs Trust staff have for the well-being of their canine residents and the way they go above and beyond to rehome so many unwanted dogs across South Wales.”

“Like all of us at Dogs Trust, it is wonderful that Carolyn also cares so deeply about animal welfare, and it was a fantastic opportunity to show her the hard work and dedication that goes on behind the scenes to prepare dogs for their forever homes.”
This year, Dogs Trust Cardiff is calling for more people to visit the rehoming centre to talk to the team about the dogs available for rehoming, how to support the charity and what Dogs Trust has to offer dog owners and the community. Dogs Trust Cardiff is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 12–4 pm.
