The nominations for the 25th Gwobrau Lantra Cymru Awards have been announced and they include a variety of individuals and businesses that highlight the breadth of the sector. The awards recognise the outstanding contributions to the environmental and land-based industries.

Over the past quarter of a century Lantra Cymru Wales has provided vital expert training and qualifications for the environment and land-based industries.

This year marks an important milestone for the Awards as they celebrate their 25th birthday. To mark this milestone, Lantra Cymru Wales is hosting an exclusive awards ceremony and gala dinner where the winners and runners-up will be announced, and held on Wednesday, 23 October at the Metropole Hotel in Llandrindod Wells at 6.30pm.

The 11 award categories, span a wide number of land-based sectors including agriculture, environment, horticulture and forestry.

Kevin Thomas, Director of Lantra Cymru Wales, said,

“The Lantra Cymru Awards provide a platform to recognise and celebrate the outstanding contributions that individuals have made in the environmental and land-based sectors in Wales.

“I’m delighted to see the nominations representing talent from across a wide range of genres, from across Wales. With such a strong list of nominees, we are certain of a fiercely contested and exciting night at the awards.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Farming Connect for their continued support with the awards during our 25th year.”

Comperes for the ceremony include the BBC Cymru Wales presenter Rachael Garside and Aled Rhys Jones, Rural Business Consultant and Nuffield Farming Scholar. Leading multimedia production company Telesgop, will be the awards’ media partner, and Farming Connect are the main sponsor.

The awards ceremony will bring together other key partners, organisations and individuals to recognise the initiatives, skills and enthusiasm of individuals pursuing careers within the environmental and land-based sectors.

Award winners and runners up will be enlisted into the new Lantra Cymru Wales Ambassadors programme to champion skills development within the food and drink supply chain in Wales. A combination of resources and informal awareness raising will be made available to all ambassadors during the year.
