Used EV prices tail off – a 2025 plateau on the cards?

Marketcheck, the UK’s most significant source of data on the UK used car market, has today published statistics indicating the average price of a sold used EV plateaued at the end of 2024 and into 2025.

Between May 2023 and June 2024, the average last listed price fell by £6063.40. The average last listed price started at £30,441, falling to £24,377.60 by June 2024. The average fell further in July 2024 by £595.02 to £23,782.58. During the period between July 2024 and February 2025 the average last listed price ranged from a low of £23,782.58 to a high of £25,029.97 in December 2024. The average last listed price prior to July 2024 was £27,288.97. During the period from July onwards, this fell by over £3,000 to £24,276.30.

When looking at fiscal quarters, in 2023 the average last listed during 2023 (excluding the first quarter) was £28,843.61. By 2024 this fell by almost 14% to £24,839.93. Price per quarter ranged from £27,776.33 to £29,978.50 in 2023. In 2024 the average last listed price ranged from £25,844.33 to £24,059.18.
