Award-winning adventurer and mental health campaigner Alex Staniforth officially crossed the halfway point of his record-breaking mission: climbing all 446 mountains in England and Wales in just 50 days using only foot and bike.

As of Day 27, Alex has conquered over 223 peaks and raised more than £25,000 for the mental health charity Mind Over Mountains.

The challenge, aptly named the 446, includes 86,000 metres of elevation gain, nearly equivalent to climbing Mount Everest ten times. Along the way, the impact has been phenomenal, from spontaneous donations by local farmers to supporters travelling cross-country just to wish him well, Alex’s journey is resonating deeply across the UK.

This challenge isn’t just about peaks and miles, it’s about people. Whether it’s a farmer donating £20 on his doorstep or someone driving from Darlington just to say well done, those moments remind me why I’m doing this. It’s proof that even the toughest climbs can bring people together for something bigger than us.” Alex said after crossing the halfway mark.

Backing Alex at this pivotal moment is Magnify PR, one of the peak sponsors of the 446 Challenge.

Nick Owens, Founder of Chester-based Magnify PR and WTS Media, shared:

At Magnify PR, we believe in the power of storytelling to create real impact. Reaching the halfway point is a remarkable milestone for Alex and for the wider message this challenge represents. Supporting the 446 Challenge is about championing resilience, purpose, and the ongoing fight to make mental health support more accessible. We’re honoured to be part of this journey.”

With continued support from brands including Jordan’s Leisure, Swyft and Rix Group, Chester businesses such as Magnify PR, Kenneymoore and HM3 Legal have also stepped in to sponsor one of the 446 mountains, as the challenge pushes on into the wilds of the North Pennines.
