Aber Falls Launches New ‘Madeira’ Whisky in Time for Summer
The North Wales based distillery, Aber Falls, is launching a new Madeira Single Malt Welsh Whisky, made in specially selected Maderia casks.
Coming to shelves in May – perfectly timed for World Whisky Day on 17th May – the new ‘Madeira’ whisky will add to Aber Falls’ rich and diverse collection, highlighting the unique character of Welsh whisky. Crafted with care and finished in specially selected Maderia casks, this aging process imparts vibrant notes of peaches, honeyed fruitiness, and a subtle nutty sweetness, creating a truly distinctive character.
The new product is set to be a popular choice for whisky lovers this summer. On the shelf, the whisky is a classic amber gold colour, whilst on the nose it gives the delicious scent of peaches and apricots, honey and caramelized sugar, and a slight citrus zest with floral hints.
The taste, sweet but slightly dry, offers honeyed fruitiness with notes of stewed apples or pears, roasted nuts, and a hint of marzipan. The finish is medium to long balanced by fruity warmth. Perfect to drink on its own, in a cocktail, or with a simple mixer.

Aber Falls’ Single Malt Welsh Whiskies are distilled, matured, and bottled in North Wales between the foothills of the Carneddau mountains in Eryri and the Menai straits. They are crafted using 100% Welsh malted barley and rock-filtered water taken from the Aber Falls Waterfall and are crafted by a team of local people. This new, very special whisky is made using 100% Welsh malted barley, creating a truly exceptional whisky release.
The Aber Falls Madeira Single Malt Welsh Whisky is bottled at 47% ABV and available to purchase from the distillery’s shop, Llandudno pier kiosk and online at aberfallsdistillery.com. This sits alongside the Aber Falls Single Malt Welsh Whisky which was awarded Gold in the 2024 International Spirits Challenge.
