Age Cymru West Glamorgan calling for ‘passionate and committed’ Trustees to join Board

Local charity, Age Cymru West Glamorgan, is searching for “committed and passionate” Trustees to join its Board to help thousands of over 50s across the region live and age well.

The charity, which covers Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend, is expanding its Board of Trustees which helps to steer the strategic direction of the organisation to meet its priorities in supporting local people to access essential services.

The new trustees will support Age Cymru West Glamorgan’s aims to improve the lives of people over 50 and their carers by providing information and advice, dementia support, and help at home, amongst many other services, lots of which are provided free of charge. The charity, which helped over 4,000 local people in the last year, is experiencing a high level of demand and is expanding its services to meet the needs of local people.

Connor James, Chief Officer of Age Cymru West Glamorgan, said the charity was pleased to be expanding their Board of Trustees with these pivotal new voluntary roles. He said: “We’re looking for individuals who are committed and passionate about working with Age Cymru West Glamorgan to support local people over 50 and their carers, at a time when they might need it most. As an organisation we provide vital support to people across Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend, to help them age well, and live well, and independently. Thousands of people rely on the tireless support provided by paid and voluntary workers, with the help of our Board of Trustees, and there has never been a better time to join the organisation.

“This role is perfect for somebody who is passionate about shaping the care and support provided through Age Cymru West Glamorgan, with an understanding of the issues that face older people. Previous trustee experience isn’t required but we’re looking for somebody who is friendly and non-judgemental, willing to undertake training as necessary, and has professional experience in areas such as business, law, marketing, or accountancy. If you think you can take on this vital role, then we’d love to hear from you.”

To apply for the role of Trustee, or to arrange an informal discussion about the role further, please email: core@agecymruwestglamorgan.org.uk.  Applications must be submitted by 23:59 on Sunday 31st July.

While this is a voluntary role, out of pocket travel costs will be reimbursed. For more information about the work of Age Cymru West Glamorgan please visit: https://www.ageuk.org.uk/cymru/west-glamorgan/
