New Legal & General research, among 2,000 UK adults, revealed over a quarter (30%) of Brits find planning a family holiday stressful. In this, a staggering 46% of Gen Z’s (ages 18-24) find booking a family holiday the most stressful, the highest across all age demographics. In contrast, just 19% of adults aged 55+ feel the same.

Despite this, 44% of 18-24 year-olds still typically travel with their parents closely followed by their friends (39%)But the results show extended family holidays are on the decline, with only 2% of Brits travelling with grandparents and 4% travelling with cousins.

With 45% of Brits planning to take a family holiday this yearhere’s the main reasons why people want to go away with their family:

  • 38% want to create lasting memories

  • 30% are eager to escape from daily routines

  • 27% can’t wait to explore new destinations

  • 20% aim to celebrate special occasions.

Paula Llewellyn, CMO and Managing Director (Direct) at Legal and General Retail comments:

“As families start thinking about their travel plans this year, it’s clear that they aren’t just sticking to the tradition of holidaying together; they’re eagerly planning, saving, and putting memories at the top of their priority list.”
