Awel Y Mor Primary School offers an inclusive and positive atmosphere for both pupils and staff. The school gives children an aspiring journey to a bright future through educational trips and workshops alongside the curriculum.

A group of volunteers from the team at Amazon in Swansea got stuck into gardening and building a tyre swing for the school’s garden to give the school grounds a new lease of life. The volunteering activity was also boosted by a £1,000 donation to the school that will be put towards resources and equipment for the school.

Dan Boulger, Site Leader at Amazon in Swansea, said:

“I take pride in having dedicated colleagues at Amazon who willingly step up to support our local community. We want to say thanks to everyone at Awel Y Mor Primary School for welcoming our team members so warmly and we hope the pupils and teachers are very pleased with the results of their day’s work.”

Zoltan Balog, an employee at Amazon Swansea who volunteered at Awel Y Mor Primary School, said:

“I really enjoyed helping out in the primary school’s garden alongside my teammates, with the highlight being building a tyre swing for the pupils to enjoy during break time. I hope they enjoy it just as much as I did mine growing up.”

Vicky Hibben, from Awel Y Mor Primary School, said:

“On behalf of the staff and pupils at Awel Y Mor Primary School, I would like to thank Dan and the Amazon team from Swansea for their donation and their help brightening up our school. The new swing for the children is a wonderful addition to our recreational facilities and is greatly appreciated by everyone here at the school.”

Community donations and employee volunteering are just two of the ways Amazon supports the communities in and around its operating locations across the UK. Amazon provides students, teachers and parents with free computer science and STEM education programmes through Amazon Future Engineer and has teamed up with charity partner Magic Breakfast to deliver more than seven million healthy breakfasts to children at risk of hunger in disadvantaged areas of the country.

Earlier this year, Amazon partnered with Comic Relief to become the official home of the Red Nose. Amazon employees across the UK hosted fundraising activities and together with their customers and partners, raised £2.7 million to support those going through the toughest time of their lives.
