As part of its continued investment into the Amman Valley Leisure Centre & Ysgol Dyffryn Aman facilities, Carmarthenshire County Council is pleased to announce the completion of resurfacing works to the existing 2G Hockey and Football floodlit all-weather pitch (AWP) and that construction of a brand-new 3G Rugby and Football AWP pitch and 6-lane synthetic running track is progressing well.

The resurfacing of the existing AWP was made possible through a combination of school, local authority, and external funding of over £300,000 and was part of the second phase of works and investments being undertaken at the site.

As phase 1 of the works, Amman Valley Leisure Centre saw a half-a million-pound investment with a major refurbishment of the changing facilities to a modern changing village, to serve wet and dry side activities.

The final phase of the capital project is underway, with the £2 million construction of a 3G pitch, surrounded by a synthetic athletics track, scheduled for completion later this year.

Cllr. Gareth John, Carmarthenshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture and Tourism, said:

“Delivering a new 3G sports pitch at Ammanford along with developing a strategy and assessing the need for all weather pitches across the county are two objectives set out within the Council’s Cabinet Vision Statement.

“I’m therefore delighted to see these developments being realised ensuring first-class sports facilities for the whole of the Amman Valley.

“This is a further significant investment by Carmarthenshire County Council into the leisure centre & school and I am very much looking forward to seeing these additional outstanding facilities being delivered to the communities of the Amman Valley later this year.

“This investment in the Amman Valley is all-important in developing the Council’s sport for all approach to support a broad range of participation in sports, from beginners to elite.”
