New small businesses in Bridgend County Borough can now apply for support from the Business Start-up Fund, which offers grants of between £250 and £4,000 to assist with many essential costs of running a business.

Bridgend County Borough Council and UK Steel Enterprise deliver the scheme in partnership to provide financial assistance to new or existing micro-businesses that are either already located or are planning to locate in Bridgend County Borough.

The initiative provides grant funding to cover costs such as capital equipment, website development, building works to business premises and computer equipment. In order to be eligible, businesses have to be within their first three years of trading, have fewer than ten employees and a turnover of less than £2 million.

The grant can provide funding of up to 50% for eligible projects costs. The minimum grant is £250 and the maximum grant available is £4,000. Therefore, the maximum project cost is £8,000 (excluding VAT).

Applications for the grant will close on Monday 8 July 2024, or sooner of the funds are allocated. Please note that the council will only consider a maximum of five items per application.

Visit the council’s website for more information about the application process.
