With secondary school admissions for September 2022 set to open on 18 October, it has never been faster or easier to submit an application.

Parents, guardians and carers of primary school pupils who are currently in Year Six now have the option of using an online form to apply for their child’s place in Year Seven.

The form is available in the ‘My Account‘ section of the council’s website, which you can sign up to simply by providing a valid email address.

Once the admissions process opens on 18 October, the deadline for submitting an application will be 21 January 2022, and the council will issue notifications of the outcome by 1 March 2022.

Cllr Charles Smith, Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration, said: “It has never been easier or more convenient to apply for a secondary school admission application. Simply visit the council website, register for My Account by submitting a valid email address, and then complete the online form.

“The council website features full information about the school admissions process and includes maps showing catchment area boundaries.

“There is no automatic or guaranteed admission to any secondary school in the county borough, so if you do not submit an application by the deadline, you may miss out on your preferred school of choice.

“If your preferred school is Archbishop McGrath Catholic High School, a separate application process is in place, and you should contact the school directly to request an application form.”
