BikePark Wales announces beginners’ weekend to inspire more newcomers to try mountain biking this Easter
BikePark Wales has announced its first ever Easter beginners weekend which will run from Saturday 16th – Sunday 17th April in response to the ever-growing popularity of mountain biking in the UK.
As part of the weekend offering, visitors to the park can hire all their equipment including their bike and protective gear, access top-quality coaching and guiding, and enjoy the après-scene at the on-site café. There will also be a fleet of dedicated uplift buses to get riders up and down the trails throughout the day.
There really is something for everybody and beginners can choose from three packages: ‘Pedal & Hire’, ‘Uplift & Hire’, and ‘Ticket to Ride’. With the Pedal & Hire package at £37, riders can rent premium bikes and protective equipment and challenge themselves to climb the summit before descending down the ultimate beginner trail. For those who would prefer to sit back and relax as they’re escorted to the top of the mountain to enjoy their downhill adventures, then bike and equipment hire with uplift is the best option – with the ‘Uplift & Hire’ package from £53. With the all-singing all-dancing ‘Ticket to Ride’ Package at £80 – riders get not only equipment hire and vehicles uplifts, but will also be looked after start to finish by an experienced host who will give you tips and guide you through your time on the mountain.
The beginners’ weekend has been created to encourage more outdoor enthusiasts to give the sport a go this Easter. This comes following the addition of four new hosts, who have recently joined the BikePark Wales team and have been tasked with the lucky job of introducing new riders to the world of mountain biking.
Beginners will get the chance to enjoy the Kermit – a stunning purpose built top-to-bottom beginners’ trail which at 5 kilometres is the UK’s longest trail of its kind. Ideal for first-time riders looking for a taste of off-road excitement, ‘Kermit’, delivers all the thrills and fun of downhill mountain biking with bermed corners, rock slabs, roller coaster elements and tree-lined flow sections.
“Everyone at BikePark Wales is passionate about attracting new people to the sport. With this beginners’ weekend, we hope to get newcomers onto our trails. The weekend will allow them to try mountain biking in a safe and fun way – and hopefully create a new crop of riders.” said Martin Astley, founder and CEO at BikePark Wales.
Situated in the scenic foothills of the Brecon Beacons, BikePark Wales, is the UK’s largest purpose-built bike park and it caters to riders of all abilities. There are now 45 trails available across a range of difficulty levels from green to the infamous Red bull pro line ‘Vanta’- meaning riders with all levels of experience can come to the park to get their adrenaline pumping and put their skills to the test.
